Hate to read that anyone has had a series of mini-strokes. I saw that Keith Jarrett had one small stroke, and then a big one a couple years ago, and is partially paralyzed. Like Arlo, he is in his 70’s.

I hope Arlo has some good days fishin ahead...

This is a reminder to take your blood pressure and cholesterol meds. And if you don't go to the doctor, go and get checked out before it's to late. I'm just saying .....

Amen to this especially if you know you have high cholesterol ... I did not heed the signs when I started having grey-ish brown floater type blotches in my vision. Which happened rarely, usually in one eye and small like the corner of my vision and only for a few minutes at a time . Then after some time frame maybe 8 months or a year. I was hiking behind the house in the National Forest and first one eye partial, then the other eye partial, and then both eyes full blocked vision... I had to stop and wait but after 3 to 5 minutes they were gone.
So I went to a vision specialist who found nothing at that time ,but advised I see a cardiologist, I didn't .

About a year later I was scuba diving in Roatan and at dinner after 5 dives that day my vision started rounding out like circular vignetting, and as if I was moving backwards thru a tube out of my own field of vision.
I was laid down flat by a doctor who was in the dive group and it went away within 15-20 seconds.

After returning home to the States I went and got my carotid arteries ultra sound'... And one was 80 % blocked and the other was 98% blocked . I was extremely lucky I was not dead at the bottom of the ocean off Roatan.

My wife and I have seen him a number of times, most recently this past February. Sad to say, but he really looked older, moved slower and played fewer songs than any other of his shows that we attended.

We wondered to ourselves after that show if he was going to tour much longer. I guess this is the answer to that question.

I’m glad he’s taking time for himself now. It really hit him hard when his wife died a few years back and that was reflected in his show back then. The outpouring of love he had for her was tangible that night and we all left exhilarated from the show but crying in our hearts for his loss.

I wish Arlo the best and hope he has a good, long, well-deserved retirement and lots of time for fishing.

I always admired Arlo for making sure that Steve Goodman got 100% of the writing credit for "City of New Orleans" (Unlike John Denver).
