Which floor do I get off for housewares?

Just kidding. I'd call it tapestry rather than elevator. When I went through that phase in guitar I listened a lot to John Fahey and that gang. I recently spent a bit of time accompanying my neighbors wind chimes and came up with a similar lot of shifting colors with the chime-like sustain of the open strings.

But it seems a bit of a stretch to define these tonal aggregations as chords when the playing is arpeggiated rather than concurrent. The listener will hear a shifting tonal grouping as the individual notes are played with the addition of any sustained sound from unfretted strings. As such, the actual "chords" are very transient in nature, constantly shifting and fading. How many tones are actually heard together before one fades, another added? THAT'S the chord. You can, if you wish, give them names, but it would seem more apt to present them as "fingerings" instead.

Ever thought of finger-style?

Thanks so much for the feedback. I will go back to work when I have time.
