Here are my 2 Archtops.
Mid 30's Kalamazoo KG-21. I don't know the full story on this. I bought it from the second owner. Had no bridge and the tuners were busted up. Put a set of Golden Age tuners on it, and made a compensated 1 piece bridge out of Madagascar Rosewood. Plays and sounds amazing. Not sure why it's a natural finish. Anyone have any idea? If it was a refin, it was done a LONG time ago. The lacquer is aged and scratched, a little wear through in some areas. Blacklighted it looks to not be a refin, or it's very old. Not sure if Kalamazoo did 2nd's or BStocks. Anyone have any guesses, info on it? The other is a late 30's, early 40's Biltmore Hearld 16" L5 copy. It was my Grandpa's first guitar, my Great Grandfather bought it for him in the late 40's early 50's 2nd hand at a local music store. It originally had a DeArmond floating pickup on a pickguard, which my Dad took off in the mid 70's. 7th inlay fell out, I've got it somewhere, need to find it and get it back in. Two of my all time favorite guitars. |

1964 Harmony Archtone 1215
I picked up this guitar in pieces. Previous owner had smashed it very hard at the tailblock, shattering the top. It went back together pretty nice and I hated to see it go... |

Here's my contribution to this thread: a 1940 or 1941 Slingerland Songster (those were the only years they were made with a blonde finish instead of the usual sunburst).
I used to see pjotos of them and think that they were made by Harmony (on account of the "segmented" f-holes) but having one in my hands makes it pretty obvious that they were made by someone else. The top is solid spruce, the back and sides are laminated maple with some beautiful flame. It's a surprisingly full and sweet sounding guitar. |

Here's a photo I took of a Ribbecke halfling, using a Deardorff 8x10 camera fitted with a Verito lens.

As long as I'm at it, here's an F-4 Gibson I used to own. Shot with a projection petzval on a 4x5 camera.

My first archtop
So, this is my first archtop build.
Soundboard: Englemann Spruce Back and sides: QLD Maple Neck: Australian Red Cedar Fretboard: Australian Gidgee Pickguard and headstock veneer: Gidgee Bindings: Curly Maple Pickup: Benedetto S6 I'm really pleased with the outcome, it is loud acoustically and sounds awesome plugged in. I will definitely be making more. I loved the hand carving although my wife would probably point out at this moment that I did complain of shoulder pain at the time! Also, the bridge is an experiment to try and get full contact and also have adjustability. It is a little heavier (35g) than what I want to get to (25g) but I will make a few options for it I think.
