Default I took the plunge to…….

Acrylic nails! This afternoon I had three fingers on my right hand done in acrylic. This nail Tech came from a big city to our small town about 3 months ago, and lo and behold, her son is a guitar player and she’s been doing guitarist’s nails for over 30 years!

I told her I was new to this application, and she said she had me covered! Pun intended! Well, leaving the salon, my nails looked very normal except for a little extra thickness, and of course longer. I was impressed.

My wife had an appointment with her right after me. I left prior to my wife having her nails done.

When my wife returned from her appointment she stated this woman is the best, bar none! I was quite surprised, but elated.

I have played now for about two hours with my new nails, and I love them! My skills are limited, but I love how these things feel! I just couldn’t get along with finger picks even though I tried multiple type/brands.

The only drawback was the cost. She charged me $10.00!!! I couldn’t believe it was that cheap!!!

Any how, at age 73, I shocked my wife by getting my nails done.

Very cool! Just curious...how far do they extend beyond the end of your fingertip? I know a few (nail) tech here in town as I get a pedicure about every 5-6 weeks. Or at least try to. Talk about a luxury! Anyway...I might ask them about this. Just several acrylic nails?

Hi Airborne!

That is so cool that you have a new set of nails! Good for you!

I used to get my nails done alongside my then-girlfriend for a while. Always got funny looks when we told people we were off to get our nails done together.

Yes, just three fingers, index, middle, and ring fingers.

When looking at the fingers palm side up, the nails extend just past the end of my finger tips.

Hope this helps.

Congratulations! Sounds like a nice place to attend. Does she do hair as well? "I would like my hair like 1974." Sir, there is not much to work with here. "Do your magic".

Acrylic nails are great initially, I had them for several years. The problem is that after several infills and the associated grinding your natural nails will weaken and it can take a very long time for them to recover.

I briefly thought about having mine done, but I went with finger picks instead. If one breaks I just grab another.

I’ve tried the various types of finger picks, and my limited skill level drops even further.

I find them uncomfortable on my arthritic fingers and clumsy to boot.

At age 73, I figured what the …….!
