Thank you everyone for your kind words! What a response! It was a collaboration between the owner and myself with a number of sketches going back and forth. I’ll will say that was a bugger to do that one. I pretty much emptied my bag of tricks!

Thanks Again,
Mark

It sure is! It has both bear claw figure and some mild quilting. Best of all it is lightweight and very stiff and rings wonderfully!

Wonderful execution on the soundport, and I love the maple burl rosette. Looks so classy!

Thank you nootis, I agree, I think the lighter color Maple burl is a great look.

Thanks Ovation1. Still a long way to go!

Here is a picture of the Fiddleback Tree binding going on the back. It has black wood and Maple purfling lines on both the back and side:

Thanks for following along!

..can’t wait to see this in full glory without the tape.... the fiddleback is quite similar to figured koa in the pattern, but with a different color ...makes for a nice contrast... and is also hog..... is the wood wetted for this shot ?

Beautiful work Mark.
How much trouble is it to finish the appliqué around the rosette

Thanks Lonzo the binding is dry in the photos. It will show even more figure with finish and still have a very nice contrast.

Thanks John, the top on this guitar will be French polished so I’ll be able to work around the appliqué much easier.

These guitars are beautiful Mark. Such unique designs and perfect execution.

Love the stories about the tone woods!
