In my opinion the retros don’t work on rosewood. Mahogany and walnut with retros sound great to me. Rosewood not so much.

I have to agree with most of the statements.
Retro strings sound better on a Mahogany guitar than they do on Rosewood, most of the time.

I just put Retros on my Pono 12 String Parlor (mahogany and sitka) it's a slothead, not as much fun to change the strings as you might imagine.

While I had the strings off I ramped the string slots on the bridge w/ my Dremel for a better string distribution across the saddle.

But to the point, it's more than an improvement, it's an upgrade. The small body size on this 12 string,... the sound has been underwhelming. Fun to play but only an OK sound w/ D'Addario PB.

It's balanced and the bass is louder w/ the Retros. Made the Pono a much better sounding guitar. I was thinking of selling, but changed my mind after the Retro string change.

I expect the retros to last a long time, way longer than PB. Another bonus.
