Guitar building season is here.
Hey folks who are thinking about a hobby guitar build.
Guitar building season is now. Cold weather is upon us. It's super dry inside the shop with humidity running in the teens - which is the perfect time to build a guitar that won't crack from humidity problems. So if you have been thinking about it - Christmas is over... The heater is running... Too cold to fish and bike.... Get going on that Guitar build!!!! |

Build in the teens and braces pop off in the summer humidity. Or so the theory goes. Wish I could start a new build, have to finish the ones I have going right now. I have been trying to keep my humidity at 20%.

uh.. why would you want to build a guitar with humidity in the teens? you'll just have trouble when the wood swells.

Yeah I tend to build on the dry side but I don’t feel good about it.
“Build in the 30s-40s and keep it that way for eternity” would probably be my saying. Sam |

they make neat humidifiers these days. pretty colors with pleasing animal shapes like elephants and penguins... some will even project beautiful stars and planets up onto the ceiling

When Luthiers say to 'build dry' they mean 35% RH. That's asking for trouble Mr. TruckJ. You can get a descent enough room humidifier for probably $40 bucks.
