I can't identify this logo and, as has been said, it could be a custom inlay. But, the barbed section (looks like the letter "G") looks like a Makau to me. I also see the letter "j". Makes me think of James Goodall.

Stefan S. says it's not one of his .
It does look quite interesting and well made, I'm sure it sounds good too.
Good luck with her, Danrullo!

Keep us up to date on what you find by way of ID.
Maybe there's some info on the neck block or something scribbled on the inside somewhere.

From the first picture of just the headstock, I thought, "piece of junk." But then looking at the pictures of the rest of the guitar, it really looks interesting and worth the work to restore it. Let us know how it comes out.

That nut, though...

Does anyone else think the six dots are supposed to represent tuner buttons on a headstock?

Thank you all for your help here. I couldnt be as forth coming as I wanted on the first request as it was an active listing. Since it was from Goodwill it was listed as an unknown brand. I guess I just thought that even if it was constructed with the woods I suspected (Macassar Ebony and Redwood) that it could be worth checking out. I also thought that with the logo, the style of the Florentine cutaway and the woods, that I would be able to find the luthier. I was not successful, but learned a lot in the process and saw some amazing custom builders. Now its the waiting game. I do suspect from the oxidation on the tuners that it is a bit older. Also is it just me or is having the access to the truss rod cover via the headstock more of a 70's thing? I know Taylor does it but I though that had mostly to do with the bolt on necks and I know Gibson still does it, but I thought for the most part others had moved to the inside of the sound hole placement such as Alvarez, Yamaha, Sigma etc... I just was wondering if custom builders lean one way or another with regards to access.

Wow! You may have just gotten yourself a nice guitar...albeit it may need a little TLC. We are all dying to know how much you paid? I think I would have jumped on it as well!

Beautiful guitar! I like that the treble clef also incorporates a fish hook.

Enjoy it in good health.

That seems likely.

Question for Dwasifar: beneath your screen name it says "Taking Tiger Mountain." By any chance, are you taking Tiger Mountain by strategy?

Dan Rullo: it definitely looks like a worthy, I mean WORTHY subject for an instrument rescue. Good call.

I thought the inlay looked like an ampersand.

Jeff,
Well as I said .. I took a gamble on the wood alone. My preference is actually for dreads but I couldnt resist something that looked this custom. Dont laugh at me too badly.... all in all I paid just over $1K for it. When I started asking it was close to $500 already with 60 some bids. Even if its nothing too special I hope I can get at least $500 back if I have to... So worst case out $500 (is what I keep repeating to myself)

Yes, I am taking Tiger Mountain (by strategy) but there's not enough room for all of it in the Custom User Title field.

If you're looking for me, I'll be back in Judy's jungle with all the sombre reptiles, wearing the king's lead hat with Blank Frank, but I'll come running to tie your shoe. Cindy will tell you.

I would try to get a camera or a mirror into the sound hole and to check out the underside of the top.

Sometimes a maker will inscribe a signature, or a date, or other information in pencil. Especially if it's an amateur, most will leave some personalization of their efforts.

Dwas, I have a DVD or Blu-Ray of "Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy," which is a Chinese action/war movie. Pretty good flick if you like that sort of thing.

I hope I'm wrong, and sorry to be the dark side, the lack of blending on that bridge, the thick blocky center, too much ornamentation, I'm going to call it an import with laminated back and sides.

Faith guitars also use that headstock shape, and truss rod access is in the same position behind the nut. Pretty guitar you scored there.
