Smile Looks BOSS

The neck is outstanding! The backstrap is FANTASTIC.

I love the story on the Crelicam Ebony.

In the old days the 90% of Ebony that was not solid black was left to rot on the ground. Even though Figured is sonically equal. Apparently the same with sapwood for backs/sides and bearclaw for tops. Now most folks appreciate the variety nature has blessed us with!

Bob Taylor and Crelicam in partnership managed to acquire the last legal Ebony forest, in Cameroon I think. They have invested a ton in the infrastructure and worker/village conditions there. They are planting a ton of trees, and making things better for the locals, whether or not they work with the wood.

Pretty nice story!

And you reap the lovely Figured Ebony!

Nice!

Paul

The suspense is killing me ! (I guess the suspense has killed you many times over by now. Are you a zombie yet? )

Seriously, everything about your guitar looks absolutely stunning, dude. I can't wait to hear you work your gentle magic on its strings !

Default Introducing...

Can't believe it's been more than 6 months... What an amazing experience it's been, I now understand why custom builds can be so addictive...

Let me introduce you to "Dolores"!
I am sharing some phone pictures that might not capture all of the detailing, I am too excited to wait for the professional shots!

I know I am biased, so I'll spare you the ranting and keep it for an exhaustive review once I receive the guitar. I will just say that the guitar looks extremely harmonious. The gradation of brown/gold is a cool theme from the crelicam ebony, the copper and MBW.
The lucky plus is that sapwood that coincidentally gets wider where the bevel is located.

Soon we should be talking about the tone, stay tuned!

Thank you guys,

The guitar will be demo'ed by Will McNicol before I go and pick it up, then Tom will be posting his usual "introducing..." video. I'll also record and share once I receive it.
I should be able to pick it up in 2-3 weeks!..

As usual, thanks for following.

You have made the right decision, my friend !!

I can't wait to hear the stories you'll have to share when you get back.

Be safe. Remember, you'll have Dolores to look after.

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I heard my guitar's first notes from the very capable hands of Will McNicol. I have grown quite fond of him (he has been my tutor for almost a year now) and I feel grateful he could record my guitar (no EQ or reverb added). I’ve been looking forward to that moment with a mix of excitement and apprehension, and I am quite pleased with the outcome. Roaring bass, sweet trebles and great resonance... Quite promising!

At the same time Will could make a plastic bag sound like a pre war Martin..

Thanks for watching, more to come once I've picked up the guitar myself!

Sounds beautiful. The overtones and resonance were fantastic as he let that last note ring out. Great guitar and great player. I can only get my nails 1/4 of that length before I break them... or cut them because they’re digging into the soundboard as I French polish.
I’m sure the anticipation of getting this guitar in your own hands is killing you.

I know it's YouTube yadda yadda, but I think I really do detect a definite sweetness and a deep resonance that I think characterise Tom's guitars. I've played many of them and they are beautiful sounding guitars, with tremendous response to a light touch. Sound to me like you have one of Tom's best coming your way for Christmas...assuming UK Covid restrictions let you get your hands on it.

Cheers,
Steve
