Default Shipping charges from Emerald

Anyone have an estimate for shipping costs from Emerald? I'm thinking about ordering an X20 from them. Haven't gotten into any serious discussions yet, but just wondering about shipping from overseas and the costs and other problems that may be involved.

Thanks

Recent delivery of a (smaller) X7 to Michigan was $55. Open a conversation with the sales crew - I worked with Chloe on a couple issues and the process of deciding and purchasing was great. Delivery was pretty quick (about 2 weeks) and without a hitch, though I expect there are potential pitfalls with overseas shipping. It came in perfect condition on UPS.

I agree with Jim. Emerald's use of UPS improved shipping service IMO....

According to the link here, shipping to the US is now $95. UK is 25 euros, Europe 45.

Anyone encountered additional customs / duties / handling fees from UPS? My experience with them has been less than stellar

I encountered extra customs fees and a three week delay when shipped through USPS, not UPS

We have ordered five Emerald's shipped via USPS ($55) and had no delays -- except one extra day at Customs over a national holiday -- and no duties or extra fees. Ireland-US should be a duty-free transaction by treaty. If you happen to get hit with these charges, file an appeal because someone at Customs made a mistake.

My custom X20 is currently in the build queue right now and I will find out if UPS is a better shipping method sometime before the end of the year. Emerald switched to UPS ($95) because of UPS's streamlined Customs channel, versus undue delays at US Customs for AnPost/USPS mail shipments throughout the spring and summer. Recent conditions have affecting all shipping. Overall I am not a big fan of UPS and take other options if possible.

I recently went through a UK Customs reimbursement application process and it was not pretty. It was for an electronic audio device that I had shipped back to Ireland from my home in Massachusetts. I did, ultimately, meet with success, though I was not reimbursed for the entire total(11.5 GBP of the fee was not refundable). I also had to set up an international bank account through www.TransferWise.com in order to receive the money.

Having said all that, I have purchased two Emeralds(a Kestrel and an X30) and have never ran into any issues regarding customs fees. Further, my experience with UPS was, in both cases, excellent, albeit at $95 a pop. I have no complaints.

For my latest guitar, UPS hit me up for $79 in “duty, tax, and brokerage fees” without any warning. Since they would only accept cashier’s check or postal money order, that required a special trip to my bank to have the check waiting at the UPS store (ironically) that is my business mailing address. It added a day to the delivery time. I have appealed the incorrect fee and there have been some promising emails but so far - no refund check. Online tracking showed nothing between “label created” until “delivery failure” because of the surprise fee.

In fairness the guitar and mug did arrive in perfect condition in one week plus the extra day, even though there was some minor damage to the box.

My "stealthy" X20-12 with satin finish doesn't seem to have moved since arriving in Sligo, Ireland (11/27) so maybe it too will magically appear on my doorstep this week...
