Well, I let me address this concern, if for no other reason than putting Tom’s mind at ease.
A small circle of Hackberry, at just .045” thick and inlaid into solid wood, then banded with doubled rings of Texas ebony, is going nowhere. It has been glued into its channel with very strong glue, then soaked from above with cyanoacrylate. It is far more stable than a solid piece supporting itself.
As for bracing underneath, the sound hole and its vicinity is heavily braced due to the need for structural rigidity. I.e. I feel quite sanguine about this little flourish of figured wood.
As for sonic response, it is inlet into the second deadest part of the top and then is not nearly as unresponsive as—say—a ring of abalone.
Again, quite hopeful that there will be less deadening influences from this than from shell or plastic.

A search for woods no matter where they may lie.
50 years ago the wood was found,
But who knows how long it was hidden before to Nac it was bound.

A beautiful poem from Treenewt was written,
Much thought it was given.
I thank you for your time and the sentiment within,
I too hope to enjoy it, soon it will begin.

Yes, the hackberry was used for its decorative flare,
As a rosette it is solid and does nothing to scare.
It will have no effect on the sound,
and with the treatment it was given, is beautiful I found.

We have had a break
so been a while without updates.

The shop is back working
So I am back lurking.

We decided to add another Texas wood
To double the sides and make them so good.

Texas sinker cypress is now inside,
to keep the mesquite company as it hides.

The arm bevel support is glued in place,
while supports for the sound port make their case.

Steve is routing the head stock for binding
The work is delicate but he ain't minding.
