OMJM vs OM28e
Hi
The Martin OMJM is my dream guitar. But I have found an OM28e for a good lower price. So I’m just wondering how different they are? The OMJM neck is perfect for my small hand. So I really need the same if I am considering the OM28e… |

I think the low oval necks are all pretty equal now days.
I'm a slim neck player. My OM-28 is feeling pretty good to me. String spacing is a bit wide. But after setting action (Nut and bridge) I think it's doable. |

I prefer the Englemann top on the JM. I've played both many times and come away enjoying the JM more though both are nice.

Did you find the necks to feel the exact same?

The OM28e is a better guitar IMO. The OMJM is based off the style 16s. It has a simple dovetail and a simpler version of x bracing. The top wood may be an upgrade but in reality, the OMJM is just a dressed-up OM16. You're paying all that extra for the signature on it. The OM28 will have standard series scalloped bracing and full dovetail neck. The OMJM has a low profile 1 11/6" neck and the OM28 if it's newer will have the MLO with 1 3/4". A tad wider but it will be thinner than a low profile shape.

No, the JM is more slender, but both feel comfy and I easily adapt with the exception of a pronounced V like the Clapton 000-28. A slight V is okay but not the hard V... The JM has a slightly more softer, rounder tone yet very clear. I like the slight compression when strumming that fattens the tone more; sounds fuller to me without being muddy... and that's important to me as a solo working musician.
