Hi Greg. It is the last entry on this page:

http://www.fayguitars.com/guitars/tonewoods/sets.html

However, I really need to take another picture of the set now that I have some much better photography equipment. The lighting was really poor and post-picture enhancement didn't really work out that well and made it somewhat pixelated. Desert Ironwood is mostly used for small woodworking items (pistol grips, for whatever reason). I just googled a site that shows a bunch of pistol grips and a couple made from Desert Ironwood.

http://www.1911pistolgrips.com/grips_sold4.php

They are at the bottom -- so just scroll down to you see them. This is much more indicative of how this set looks. I find that the grain has a marble-like quality that is wholly unique from everything else I have ever seen. The few sets I have are absolutely astounding in person. As soon as I take some new photos, I will send you some pictures.

Kind Regards,
Simon

Beautiful, I really like it. Sorry if you mentioned it already, but, what kind of tap-tone does it have?

Greg

Kind of reminds me of a black Ebony (Nigerian) set I got from Allied Lutherie. It is incredibly dense - I believe almost as dense as Lignum Vitae. You will see some of these billets pass thru Gilmer Wood. They are a gamble though because they are very expensive and likely won't yield a back or side set. But I have occasionally seen some billets that would most likely have worked out. Just be prepared to buy a new bandsaw blade after you're done resawing

I had to take pictures of a recently completed guitar today and so I thought I would update some of my tonewood pictures as well. Here are two new pics of the Desert Ironwood back/side set. It is hard to see in the pictures but a lot of the black outer lines are actually more gray than black. The wood also has no pores.
