Cool thread. Love the leapardwood!
What type of walnut are you using for the neck stock? Where did you get your crazy claw? Nice recovery from the 'whoops'. Hang in there.

YIKES - I got attacked! Twice! By my GoBar deck! I was securing the back and and right at the end I noted it had moved to ne side. While removing one fiberglass rod , one hit another and all of a sudden it looked like Nathen Lane setting off all of the mouse traps in Mouse Trap (GREAT Kid flick!). Got them all off, quickly freshened the glue. Got most bars on, one slipped and BAM I got attacked by auto ninja sticks again!
3rd time seems to have worked SHHHHHHHHHH

I hated the idea of buying something suitable for a Dred and chop it up to this size. So, I asked a few of the guys if they had anything great that was too small for their uses. The other Tenor I am building was actually too large for the set I used one the first one. When you build small the selection of premium woods really increases.

Got the neck half shaped. Luv the Walnut smell. Fixed a few kerfing issues. Got on the side strips, shellac'd the inner back and sides. The rest of the bracing is in the top. In a few hours I will shave and tune the top. Close the box today? Maybe

Showoff! Pics or it didn't happen!
I'm at 9 months on a Grizzly ukelele kit and my 4 year-old is getting impatient. You know these kits: a closed box with a neck - very little assembly. I just can't get the french polish scratch-free and to a gloss though.

All of the toys are assembled. The boys are off shooting each other with new Airsoft gear .......
Merry Christmas all! A nice size comparison. Dred to Tenor  The Cork Circle under the top worked like a Lazy Susan and a sure grip all in one. I really liked chiseling and shaving the braces with its assistance. The cork has a Masonite backing. The circle is only about 12", so too small for a full size Guitar but darn handy for this little gal. I picked it up at the plant section of Lowes (Box Hardware store). Original use they are for under Flower pots.   The top has a nice "gong" to her. Quite a range of voices. Feisty is a guess. Not even together and she took a swing at me  This quick paced build has helped me see more clearly where I need to improve my forms and devises.  Tops are a bugger to fix dings. Any advise is welcome.  This was the result of a couple Ninja Gobar Rods attacking the Top before going for my groin and chest (It freakin' hurt man!). Like I said. I have some work to do on my forms and devises!  She passes the flashlight test. Ready for binding.

LOL, you don't take a break do ya? Of course, I s'pose that THIS is your respite - either that or you're a closet recluse!
You know I agree with you on those "ninja" go bars. Everybody I show pics of them in use to says "jeez, they're too long!" I'm tired of living in fear whenever I stick my head and hands in between those deathtraps. For the next build I'm going to buy more cheap clamps from Harbor Freight to glue on the braces and make a caul that screws on to the top of the mold for when it comes time to glue on the plates.

Yesterday I cleaned the shop. It looked like I'd had Taz over for a spin!
This morning I steamed the dings. Got 50% of the ding up. I then dripped 3x thick clear filler. We will see. Last edited by Kitchen Guitars; 12-26-2011 at 07:37 AM.
