If that area wrecked havoc on your 110, I would assume the same fate would befall a miniGS, similarity of construction/materials and such.

I'm a retired high school teacher. For years I kept a $100 pawnshop Yamaha in my classrooom. I went through 2 or 3 of them. My last one was an FG720, paid $140 for it, used and dinged but structurally fine and it sounded pretty good. I played it, my students played it, and I never worried about it. When I retired I gave it to a friend for his son.

I have an old beat up Sigma that I keep out at work. It never gets humidified, but always plays great. It has been a great guitar for what I've needed it for.

Get an all lam guitar. I have a Savannah Parlor guitar at work. It plays great, sounds okay and will survive a Zombie apocalypse. I bought my buddy a Savannah OM when he was going through some lean times and it plays great too - got him back into playing. about $85 on MF w/discount.

I agree 100%. You can earn your entire annual salary in about 10 minutes crawling down a hot smoky hallway above the fire.

As far as the guitar goes I would buy an Yamaha FG830.

I've heard good things about the all HPL Martins in challenging environments. A friend of mine got one for some time he was spending in Cuba, where the humidity can wreak havoc on an instrument.

I'm with H165 and would get a used Ovation. What ever you choose ask yourself how you would feel if it were stolen or damaged. If you can afford to replace it or won't be sad about its loss or damage, that's the one for you.

I play gigs after work and I’ll take my guitar into my office during the day instead of leaving it in the car.

I got scolded by HR once for causing a distraction the one time my coworkers convinced me to take it out and play something. No more work guitar for me. If they want to hear me play they can come to my gigs or hire me to play in the office.

(P.S. they just hired me to play at the corporate retreat in April).

An old used...but in good shape...Yamaha FG-75 or FG-150 from the 70's would great!

They are all laminate, but sound really good and are very well and sturdily made, and you can find them used at good prices really easily. Guitar Center has quite a few of them up for sale on their Used Gear Online site.

Worth a look!

or Simon & Patrick......

One of the new Yamaha FG or FS 800 series guitars.

For a small enclosed office, I'd probably go with the FS820/830

I have kept my Soloette at work for more than 20 years. It takes up very little space and I can play it without being disruptive. The builder no longer makes the Soloette, but you can find used ones. Yamaha makes a model that closely resembles Soloette but is a bit larger.

I use the guitar just for practice at work.

Power went out at our place this summer, so I got the guitar out. Sitting in the dark in my cubicle, I had a semi-captive audience.

Since then I've played the company picnic and twice been requested to play a song for someone's retirement celebration.

I don't usually play in my cubicle though. I head to an empty conference room upstairs during my lunch. Slow Fridays I have been known to do a little light fingerpicking at my desk....
