Default String Replacement for a Heavy Built Classical Hybrid

A friend of mine asked me to change a set of strings on a guitar he has. He is not a player. I don't know how old it is but I'm guessing at least 5-10 years if not more. I'm pretty sure the strings are original to the guitar. It's a modern Ibanez cutaway classical style with a weird set of strings. The three small strings are nylon and the three large strings are regular steel type strings. My question is, can I replace them with something like a extra light set of regular steel phosphor bronze complete set or similar, or do I have to restring with the same type as on it. This thing is built like a tank! Super heavy, with a heavy neck. Feels like you could grab it by the headstock and chop down a tree. Added a couple pictures for reference. He wants to get it restrung so when his daughter comes home for the holidays she can perform in church. Guitar also has built in, barn door type electronics, if that makes any difference. Appreciate any help! I need to order strings quite soon. Thanks, REV

Unless I'm very much mistaken, that's a standard full set of nylon strings. The top three are plain, and the bottom three are metal wound around a nylon core - note how they are all tied in the same way at the bridge? I'd love to see you do that with a regular steel string

I'll leave it to others to suggest replacement strings, as I have no experience with nylon at all.

Default Classical Strings

I think I have it figured out after more research! Any suggestions on brand of strings to purchase? This is what I come up with for size: .025"N, .029"N, .038"N, .028"N Core, .033" N Core, .042" N Core

Classical strings are much more complicated than steel strings. I use Savarez Cantiga Creation mixed tension on my Ramirez...which is a guitar that demands high tension strings. I also like the Savarez 520R (which is a great basic set that is very well balanced).

Martin has a set called Magnifico, and they were developed by Aquila. They are a little unusual because they were developed for a hybrid guitar, classical but with the bracing of a steel acoustic. I tried the high tension set, and they were wonderful. But the nylon trebles are grey in color (which looks weird), and I like the Cantiga strings better.
