Default How do I tighten Martin acoustic-electric endpin jack?

My Martin Dreanought Junior's endpin jack is working it's way loose. I was playing while standing up and after I took the guitar strap off the thing looks like it is going to fall out. I would like to continue playing standing up so I need to figure out how to tighten it. Looking for a how too...

This video will most likely have the solution to your problem. The trick starts at about 2:40 in the video.

Yeah I saw that video. Still kinda unsure about doing that myself. Should I just drop it off at a repair shop or would that be silly.

I would, carefully, dismantle it, taking pictures for reference, and inspect why it became loose. One thought, if it’s only mildly loose, maybe insert a piece of toothpick, used like a shim but instead, placed so as to create added tension during reassembly, might be enough to suffice. I’d try that first, and if the result is a snug fit, leave it, or depending on judgement add a drop of superglue. Or take it to a shop if you are uncomfortable with the process.

Take it to a repair shop and get it done right.
They may even use some locktite to help keep it from coming loose again.

Not sure I would use Super Glue, but the red Loktite should work- just don't use the permanent stuff- it's a biatch to loosen and with this being a wooden object, less force is a good thing. I used a small precision screwdriver to keep the jack in position and a box wrench to tighten the nut. It stays put but it isn't stressed much. I it was, I would use a dab of Loktite or a star washer between the flat washer and the nut- my Fishman Matrix Infinity came with a star washer.

I use Loktite or Permatex.
Blue, NOT red. Red is the permanent stuff.
Blue can be undone.

Note: Don't rely on the color of the container. Both Permatex red and blue come in a blue squeeze tube. Ya gotta read the labels to make sure you get the right one.

Available at any hardware or auto store. A small tube is all you'll need.

Yes, you want the BLUE stuff.

But, it comes in a (mostly) red tube, so read the label! It says REMOVABLE.
