This little gem does anything and everything you could want from slightly overdriven to Ted Nugent screaming Brownface.
It has 6 presets so you can get whatever you want with six options.
I paid $300 new and have had it for years. It’s the best investment I ever made in a stomp box, bar none.

Place a Soul Food in front of your Blues Driver and see what that can do.

I really like the Soul Food. I place a Mooer Blues Mood after it...use the Soul Food most of the time and if I want a little more edge I push on the Blues Mood.

Most of those old guys just used tweed amps, turned up loud enough to get distortion from the power tube section. Those old amps had a lot of sag in the circuit and a loose feel. I don't know if your current amp can get there. My impression of the Bugera (a fine amp) is that it has a tighter feel than the tweed style amps. I'm sure you can get preamp distortion from it but power tube breakup needs the master turned up quite a bit.

Try a low gain, transparent type of pedal, like a Wampler Tumnus or an MXR Timmy. Tube Screamer, Blues Driver type pedals work better for Blues/Rock, rather than old-style Blues.

If you need to keep the volume down, I sincerely believe that the obvious solution is to use a preamp pedal with cab simulation (for the sound), plugged into a "full range, flat response" speaker. A studio monitor would be ideal. I'm currently making do with a set of computer speakers with a subwoofer.

Preamps from Two Notes look pretty good for this.
Tech 21 SansAmp is a classic, and there are many cheap clones out there
I've been using a Blackstar HT Dual for this
... and I recently bought a Vox Valvenergy Mystic Edge for this purpose. The Silk Drive version would be a more Fendery (and lower gain) version.
