Congratulations, brother! I pray your recovery is quick and full.

I am very, very slowly seeing a bit of improvement in my left hand functionality after suffering nerve damage in an auto accident back in 11/21. I had been told that I would probably never regain usage even after surgery...so I sold off my small guitar collection here on the Classifieds. I had pretty much given up hope.

But two days ago, I went to my local shop and could actually play a G-chord fairly easily! I was so excited and encouraged...I bought a brand new Martin D-18!! Haha!

Little by little...day by day.

Good to know how the nerves in the arm can affect the fingers in your hand, the elbow being a weigh station. Thanks for the heads up. Glad to hear of your upgrade.

So glad the braces worked for you. I had bad carpel tunnel and some trigger finger events all through my 20's and 30's and wore wrist splints at night to be able to sleep. I thought it was from rowing big rafts as a young river guide and then playing guitar most nights. Then in late 40's A huge flare up resulted in a diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis that was the underlying issue all along, but it took some time for it to worsen bad enough to figure it all out.

So be aware of it all and keep up with any future worsening symptoms to get early treatment in case it goes south on you down the road. With these autoimmune diseases, they might not be able to cure it, but they can treat it and lessen the potential for a poor outcome and permanent damage and disability with the modern meds and some lifestyle changes and PT. Most doctors, even ortho docs, have no real training or understanding of the autoimmune diseases, you need to see a specialist, like a rheumatologist or dermatologist or other specialty doc dependent on the actual disease process.

That is great news. Hope the brace continues to help and calms the nerves down the line.

Really glad you found a way to keep playing.

Nerves are a weird and somewhat mysterious thing. My wife got nerve damage in her leg and foot from a surgery. The pain can be severe.

Don't over do it just because the brace helps. Hopefully the doctor gave you some exercises and stretches' to do. Do those. They are very important towards treating the cause. The brace is a band aid, not a cure.

That's great news! I'm nearly there myself so I'll be looking into that padded elbow brace.

Enjoy playing again!

Really glad to hear you're able to play again, and also that surgery wasn't necessary.

you bet, i heard carpal tunnel surgery can cost $6,000 per finger, in my case that would have been $18,000 !!!!
