Default New Wilborn Guitars Warhorse

Here's a new build. This is the first build thread I've ever managed myself, so please forgive me if I post things in a less-than-elegant way.

I'm very excited about this one. It's a bit of a departure for me, since I'll be employing every single modern and snazzy feature I know. In fact this guitar will be completely maxed out with features. Two bevels, a soundport, laminated sides, a cutaway, a radially braced back, a multi-scale neck, and the finest woods I have in my shop. I'll be building this onto a WarHorse, which is my version of a dreadnought. My version is in keeping with my other guitars- a sharp upper bout,
a waist-forward configuration, and no flat spots. All curves and balance.

The top is master grade red spruce (Adirondack) and it's the nicest looking Adi top I've ever seen, or tapped. I was saving it for my alleged "dream guitar" that I was going to build for myself, but what the heck- this is a great use for it. The back and sides are old growth Brazilian Rosewood, quarter sawn and a lovely dark chocolate tone with no weird defects or knot shadows. It's the real deal! It has a piece of paper that says it is CITES compliant (whatever that means in reality, I don't know...) and was carbon dated to the 19th century. Its sweet. It will be bound in landscape cocobolo, and will have jet black Gaboon ebony bridge and fingerboard. The purflings, etc., I have yet to decide on.

Thanks to Dale for this exciting commission! I'm going to really enjoy this.

Smile This will be FUN

Thanks for sharing this Ben!

And what a monster this will be. I am a huge fan of bevels, ports, etc. they certainly add a LOT to the player's experience.

Dale is going for the Gusto for sure.

I am looking way forward to this!

Cheers

Paul

Thanks for hangin' out! I'm with you, especially on the port. They are standard issue on my guitars, and really enhance a player's experience.

Amazing woods on this one, Ben!

What scale lengths are you going to be using?

Really looking forward to following along...

Howdy! I am going to use a half inch disparity- basically a 25.4" on the bass side, and a 24.9 on the treble.
