Best Online Source for Sheet Music?
Or whatever they call sheet music nowadays. I'm seeking accurate renditions of classic rock, classic country, and crooners...

Google images.
Type in the name of the tune and "sheet music" then click on the "images" button. Anything available on-line is likely to be displayed. I have found it the quickest way to locate the websites with style of sheet music that I am looking for when searching on line.

For classic rock and country, best source is YouTube. Even standards, which I also sing, just search song title and chords/lyrics.
Sheet music is for piano, horns, etc. or for learning the melody. But even there, I think its better to learn these types of songs from the great singers' recordings, not from sheet music. My opinion. |

Hal Leonard seems to have the publishing agreements with many artists/labels, if your looking for the original music sheets.

I use Musicnotes.com a lot. Much of the time my first stop is Ultimate Guitar, but that's after an initial search for the name of the song plus the words "chords." Often most of the top results are at Ultimate Guitar, which are contributed by fans. Musicnotes costs money, Ultimate doesn't require it except for additional features I don't need. Often you can find comments below a song that offer corrections, which aren't always added by the original contributor.
Obviously the quality varies with free content, and the most popular version of a chord chart isn't always the most accurate. Occasionally, however, a more accurate version turns up in Ultimate than at Musicnotes. Ultimate Guitar is pure chords or tabs, so doesn't do the job if you need true sheet music--which Musicnotes does provide. Depending on the song, the latter can offer multiple keys, and leadsheets if you don't need a full treatment. Just depends. Last edited by Chriscom; 05-10-2021 at 08:02 AM. |

Musescore is a really really good one as well if you're willing to pay for it. It's nice being able to see random people's arrangements of songs instead of just "official scores".
I'm not sure how much the subscription cost, but they have a 30-day free trial. You don't need the musescore software (although it's free) and you can download music as PDF as well. |
