Regal RC-2
Anyone have experience with the Regal Rc-2 resonator ? On paper it has
everything I am looking for, I think. 14 frets clear, 1 3/4in nut width etc.. It seems to get favorable reviews. |

My limited experience with Regal is that their quality control varies. Some are stellar and some are "meh". The really good ones are a tremendous value, rivaling high end resonator guitars like Nationals. But I would not buy one without playing it first.

I bought mine from my local dealer and just told him that, if it's not up to his standards, send it back and get another. He didn't have to send it back, but he did do a complete setup before I took delivery.
After a while, I replaced the original cone with a Quarterman cone from Stew Mac and,WOW! the difference was like night and day.

No local dealers have one in stock. I may have to take a chance on it.

That is why I have *limited* experience with them, they are not often in stock locally. If your store has a good return policy, you can only lose the shipping costs and might get lucky first try.
I agree that changing out the cone can make a big difference. I once had one of those wild Martin aluminum topped resonators (bought in person at Elderly) and it too benefited noticeably from an upgrade to a better Quarterman cone. |
