Default Woodshedding work in progress: The Mystery

In another thread I inquired on Tommy Emmanuel's latest album and it kind of reawakened my interest in learning more of his tunes. I was pointed to a site that has extensive TE tabs and found an arrangement of the title track to his album "The Mystery" and I've become immersed in it.

The first night I spent a few hours trying to get passages ingrained into my muscle memory then go the nerve to record directly through my Larrivee OM-03R's K&K Pure western mini and this was the result:

A few days passed and I spent more time noodling and listening to the original recording, then today I focused more on song structure and cleaning up some of the warts. This time I broke out my Zoom H2 and added some reverb afterward to dress it up. It's still not there yet but I'm proud of my progress so far:

That really is coming along. The different is quite remarkable.

The strumming you've added sort of shows a sign of confidence in your playing of this tune.

Well done, Neil.

Thanks, Rob!

Yeah, I'm a little less timid with it but I still feel like I was holding back during the recording. I cringe when I listen back and get to the 2 minutes mark but it'll come.

FWIW I'm getting more confident and have even started on Classical Gas. It'll be a while on that one though.
