Amboyna burl use.
Hi guys, I'm new here and need some knowledge about burl. I have a beautiful Nara book matched burl and wonder if it could be used for a acoustic top. I hate to hide it on the back.

Unlikely. The structural properties of quartersawn, straight-grained spruce, with a high directional strength-to-weight ratio is the dominating factor in its selection as a top wood.
You lose stability, strength, predictability, etc when using non-traditional top woods, especially a burl. You can try it out, but it would be a voicing nightmare to get a nice sound out of it. I wouldn't waste the wood. |

I would not use it for a back either unless maybe it was laminated.
