Had one of the first '61 Standard reissues back in '86, when they came in the oversize plastic cases (thicker than any of my acoustic cases, and grossly unbalanced ) and had period-correct thin necks like the limited-edition SG Xtra Slim; sold it to finance an early A-Series white-label/script-logo '47 L-7 - my mistake, since it was one of the fastest-handling guitars I've ever played...

Use it well, often, and LOUD...

Thanks guys! Just played it through my Marshall and it was yowza! Re color: its called Heritage Cherry, looks more Heritage than Cherry but it really shows the mahogany grain which I like. Some of the OG SG finishes were quite opaque.

Lovely guitar. The first guitar I paid for myself was a '70 SG Standard in 1970. A friend of mine still has it.

Fantastic! Is this your first SG? I have some and they're amazing players.

+1 on the SG through a Marshall
