Default How's this for an electric car ?

I heard about this company on bbc Radio 4 yesterday.

They convert old cars to 'lectric so you can continue to drive your Dad's garage queen every day.

Lovely. My dear departed maternal grandfather drove Morris Minors for pretty much as long as they were available.

Though, with conversion costs at £12,000 - £20,000, I'm not sure the economics quite add up.

That old car is missing a lot of modern safety features too - which may be less of a concern given the type of journey it's intended for.

Fantastic - so old British cars no longer spinning out on their own oil.

Wait a minute ... is Lucas involved?

In the late 60's me and a buddy bought a very old Morris Minor for $25. We were very amateur mechanics and would work on the dang thing for weeks. Then it would run for a week or two and the cycle would repeat. Good times.

Get yourself an old Mini Cooper, it could probably be converted to run on a couple of 9-Volts.

You can convert any car to electric. Whether it's worth it to convert an existing gasoline vehicle to electric is up to the owner or buyer of a vehicle. I wouldn't do it. Factory electric vehicles are designed from the chassis up to house the batteries, battery management systems and integrate all existing electronics to operate with the system.

We had a Morris Minor when I was a kid - mid sixties. It was that funky greenish color with a beige ragtop - Dad called it Sweet Pea after the Tommy Roe song
