My wife and I have mostly lost our zeal for concerts due to rude, drunken and selfish behavior. Then, there is what everybody else is doing to ruin things on top of that.

But seriously folks, as far as The OP and Dylan, for me, his times they are done a-changin' and they were a long time ago. He wrote some really great songs and is an icon as well as a huge influence on many, but I wouldn't care to pay money to see him today, let alone take his picture.
My vote is suck it up Bob or return to your secluded comfort zone.
By the way, if you invite us over for a private concert, we'll be delighted to attend and leave our cell phones behind.

Agreed. He really sounds like a self-absorbed twit. IMHO, of course.

Never liked him, and haven't really forgiven him for going electric at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. I'm amazed that people are still willing to pay money to hear Dillan perform.

I saw him a couple years ago at Tower Theater outside Philly. Pretty small theater for him, and the show was great. Before we could even enter the theater security alerted us of the no-photo issue, and made us turn our phones off.

I'm with His Bobness on this one. Instead to spending all your time trying to capture the moment, why not just actually be in the moment.

It's the musician's show, so it's the musician's rules. Don't attend if you don't like them. Personally I would pay extra for a "phoneless" show.

I do think they go too light on violators. I think they should take any violators into a back room and then ask them what finger they use for texting. If you ever saw the film Casino, then you know what happens next.

The hammered hand teaches best. (Or was it the burnt hand?) Get off of my lawn with those XS Max iphones you darn kids.

Seriously, I do remember what they used to do to people caught trying to record or photograph at rock shows for certain bands back in the 70s. Not only did a couple of big bruisers haul you out, you also got your equipment smashed
and sometimes they roughed up the perpetrator.

I don't take photos or videos at concerts anymore. I would rather EXPERIENCE the show. When my kids were small children, I spent all my time and attention at their musical or sports events fiddling with my cameras... trying to capture it for posterity. I became disillusioned with it and now my wife can hardly get me to take or pose for any pics at all.

BUT... c'mon Bob, just dance like the trained monkey that people pay you to be. You're an ENTERTAINER!!! I've been playing for money for 35 years and have NEVER uttered a political or controversial thing that would alienate audience members while on stage (despite being VERY opinionated). I'm there to ENTERTAIN. I'm a nobody. But it doesn't matter Bob... you're there to ENTERTAIN as well... not be an entitled diva. If you can't understand that, then call it quits and go home to do what you want. As coach Bill Bellichick says, "DO YOUR JOB". You can just write and record if you want to make statements.

LOL... perhaps you would feel more comfortable in the Soviet USSR.

I guess folks want a piece of him. I for one have never been one of those people. I do not own an autograph. Ive just always thought it rude to chase
after an artist for a selfie or some other piece if him. Like chipping off a piece
of plymouth rock. Dylan has always acted like this ..starting with playing electric
guitar at the Newport folk festival. Or not acknowledging the nobel prize.
Thats why we love him. Just because hes famous doesnt preclude basic human
decency on our parts. If your friends dont beleive you saw him/her then get new friends..

I love how folks here are calling one of the most important musical figures in American history a "diva" and a "twit," simply because he scolded some inconsiderate audience members. May all your concert experiences hereafter feature Taylor Swift and BTS.

Wow .. so Bob's not a fan of his fans.
That's cool, I'm not a fan of Bob.

I have no problem if the artist requests this, Enjoy the show. Take pictures prior to the event. Dont distract others with your phones and lights especially in more relaxing times. Are people so addicted to there phones they cant enjoy the moment?

I was at an Art Garfunkel concert and a woman in front of me sang along to every song. Out. Of. Tune.

Nothing worse than hearing somebody singing along. I didn't pay money to hear joe blow sing. I would never attend a concert in England, the whole crowd starts to sing
