It’s not to my taste either...mine would have to have the Canadian or CanAm flag! j/k. My point in posting these is simply to show that Emerald offers pretty much whatever your little heart desires...as simple or detailed. There are some other custom graphics that members here have commissioned and posted in threads. Member wickedwahine’s comes to mind.

I wasn't initially enamored with the look of the X20 (or Emeralds in general) from pictures I had seen online, but a few years ago I had sold my Composite Acoustics OX (great guitar, but the neck was too slim for my hands) and was keeping an eye out for other carbon fiber guitars to try. I stumbled upon a used X20 online for a great price and scooped it up. From the moment I laid eyes and hands on it in person I was hooked. The sculpting, the bevels, the look of the CF, the feel, the tone -- all amazing. I tell people all the time that until you've seen an Emerald in person you don't realize what you're missing. The only possible exception for me is the bridge design -- it's never been my favorite and is, I think, Alistair's one blind spot when it comes to design.

I am the most critical guy about the look of Emerald guitars on this forum. But I am 100% confident if you are happy with the guitar your audience will see it as being a nice looking guitar. The black RainSong parlors I'm gigging with have little in common with a Martin dreadnought but seem to pass the visual test with my audience.

Agreed. Here's my red X20 in my front room in daylight through the window, and the same guitar on my deck in direct sunlight.

Hard to believe it's the same guitar - but I love it just the same, and would never, ever consider that its appearance might affect someone's view of me as a player. Really?

X20: Horrible, awful, ugly guitars...

Same with the X7:

Don't overlook the X30..... fits smaller than a Martin dreadnought and fills your chest with sound....

Emerald guitars don't look traditional. A pretty good percentage of guitar players are traditionalists.

Might as well keep it rollin'. Oh and worrying about what others think is not the way to be. Life is too short. Your own opinion is the only one that matters, especially for something like a guitar.

Default Wood veneers

I know many of you are fans of the wood veneers, pictured in this thread. But, for me, I like the ones that say "I am made of carbon fiber." I'll probably be placing my order this week. Thanks all!

I like both. That said, I’ve gone from a beautiful cocobolo topped Chimaera 6/12 doubleneck (sold) to a black Opus X20 (with requested vertical weave). There isn’t a bad choice with Emerald guitars.

I have a lovely veneer X20, a red X10, and a black X7... and find each striking. Nice that you can get it the way you want it from the folks at Emerald.
