I'm sorry to hear of your loss and I understand it. A few years ago I received word that my best friend from high school days had passed. We'd drifted apart but I'd made several attempts to reconnect and had always ended up sending to his last address right after he moved. I'd always hoped to get back together but that dream is gone now. I'll pray for your peace in the aftermath.

Bob

Sorry for your loss. I bet it was horrible. Given that we all will pass he was blessed with what appears to be one of the easiest. He doesn't have any fights or worries now. He can rest easy.

In the last few years I have had several reminders of how quickly things can change and how uncertain tomorrow can be. Hold your loved ones closely. Love well and truly. Cherish the days you are given.

I am sorry for your loss.

Blessed be.

Thanks to everyone who replied for your thoughts and well-wishes.
The funeral was yesterday. It was a celebration of Keith's life and there was laughter mixed in with the tears. He was a remarkable guy.

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope that you're able to lend his surviving family a hand.

Just remember that death is a natural part of life and the best way to deal with it is to remember all the positive things that the departed accomplished. If he was inspiring, then perhaps those who he affected positively in life could do something in remembrance of him in return.

I empathise with the loss of your frind/neighbour.

My best pal died in 2004. I always told him to get a pension, he said his business was his pension.

i was going to texas (from the UK) in October 2014, and phoned him to ask igf there was anyh5ting he'd like e to pick up.
He sounded unusually bright. - "I've just sold the business, by the time you get back I'll be a retired millionaire and we can do all that drinking and picking we've talked about since out 20s!"

When I got home two/three weeks later, there was a letter asking me to visit asap and do an inventory of all of his instruments and to sell them for him and his wife.

I phoned immediately: "don't get sentimental about this - I've got terminal cancer and I'm not going through all that hospital stuff"
I went up and met him brierfly but ihis wife was very protective.

He died shortly after and his wife wouldn't let me back in the house to fulfill his wishes. Funny but I'm still kinda angry with him for leaving us.

An American friend who died of a heart attack in the shower on the first day of his retirement used to say "I wish you ...enough".
I treasure that idea.

So sorry.. I've lost a couple of good buddies in the last year to cancer - both around my age (mid-fifties). It's been a wake up call for me to appreciate every day. Not sure I always accomplish keeping that mindset, but I'm trying. It's driven me to play as much music as I can knowing anything could happen at any time that might change my ability to do so.

Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know it's tough.

It is sad that he was gone so suddenly and so young. But take comfort in all the good memories and the fact that he will be so sorely missed. Condolences.
