Over the years Tiger has played golf with former presidents George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, the latter both in and out of office, and the current president before and in office. He probably would have played with George W. Bush, but the latter cut back on his golfing in his second term. His personal comments have been apolitical, and full of respect for the office. Even though the getting the Medal if Honor may seem a bit much to some, he's had a huge impact on US sports culture, and coming back from moral disgrace and injuries, is definitely inspirational.

As much of a fan as I am of Tiger, if a great sports comeback, particularly a golf comeback, is worthy of a Presidential Medal of Freedom then Mr. Hogan should have been given one long ago. In fact I believe that coming back from the 49 crash that almost took his life is THE greatest comeback in sports.
I'm not sure that Tiger is worthy of such an award, but hey when your golf buddies insist......
