How would you get an archtop built
If you were get a custom acoustic built what would you get done and why . I’d go a vintage 30s style archtop acoustic . They are classy and look good and fun guitars to play.
My specs would be Body: 17” acoustic archtop layered maple back and sides with a solid Sitka spruce top .spruce bracing ,bound vintage sunburst high gloss finish . An combo of x and fan spruce bracing The neck : I’d like a silver leafs maple neck ? (What is on the seagull mini jumbo performance model , 12” radius Bound Ebony or rosewood fretboard , A vintage soft v neck profile (were your neck profile is between a v and a big chunky c), Medium jumbo frets . And graphteck new bone nut . Electronics : Godin qit acoustic pickup in the bridge (if possible ) . Hardware: Standard tuner machines. Standard strap pins , And a trapeze tail piece , Archtop style movable bridge . Last edited by silvertonebetty; 03-03-2018 at 09:46 PM. |

Jim Triggs 19" Stromberg Master 400 tribute, blonde, no modifications; MandoBros had one years ago, and I should've withdrawn the $7100 from the bank and bought it - one of the finest four or five archtops I've played in the last 55+ years, and unquestionably the finest new one...

I see what you mean . I’d have to go an x bracing but add the fan bracing style of a classical guitar on the bottom half of the top |

I have a pretty good L-4 - see pic below, but the only place i know where yuo can get an original style L-5 would be a guy in the Netherlands.
1st step get LOTS of money! 1nd step - get lots of time to wait. I have neither. I'd very much like an Eastman AR805 - 16" is as wide asI'd want to go.

The solid wood carved and tuned back of an acoustic archtop is an incredibly important part of the tone production. I cannot imagine specifying a laminated back on a dream ultimate acoustic archtop guitar.

It was (and still is, for some lucky owner ) an amazing guitar, as Kayakman can attest - even after playing several thousand guitars over my lifetime this is one you're not likely to forget...
