Default I've got electric GAS

I love my old 1980's Gibson Sonex Custom - a cheap Les Paul alternative, made with the best electronics and a great body (which was not well received).

I also love tapered headstock aesthetics and nice straight string lines.

I just stumbled across this - another one of Gibson's oddities and it gave me electric-GAS

I didn't like the 2012 Les Paul I bought because they had grown jumbo frets and I like the teeny tiny 80's style, so I'm not sure what these have.

Is this a double-cut Les Paul? Not sure just by looking...

Yes, it's a rare "snake head" double cut Les Paul. I've only seen the 1997 models, so far. It came with a couple configurations, including a P90 with wraparound tailpiece, but I like dual humbuckers and ABR.

I used to have a double cut LP from the 90's. (came with a free Gibson leather jacket which I still have). Because it was 24 frets instead of 22, I didn't like the neck pu tone. Just not fat enough. It was also lighter than a regular LP, which may have also accounted for the lack of fatness.

Guitar Acquisition Syndrome: the uncontrollable desire to acquire a specific guitar triggered by certain guitar related stimuli.

Fazool, I've seen a few double cutaway Les Pauls but I've never seen one with a headstock like that. Do you have a line on the guitar in the pic? That would be cool to have.

No - I actually saw it in the book I am reading "2000 guitars" and looked it up on Google.

I'd be in the gas lane too if it had P-90s... That would be amazing for me.

Not meaning to rain on any parade, but what sets the LP apart from a PRS for my playing style is the 4 knobs. I don't want an LP with 2 knobs. Combined with the reverse headstock, it's a little too PRS for my taste.

The first 21 seconds in this clip is what Gibson needs to remember.

I ask because one showed up in CL ad near me (http://savannah.craigslist.org/msg/5389591138.html) and I did some reading on them. Some were 22 fret models like (I think) the one for sale here. Good price too, compared to Reverb.com prices.

I have two guitars that already cover that ground decently, so not pursuing it, but would otherwise.

For me, having a control set that is more like what I am used to (meaning not four knobs) is an advantage, not a disadvantage, but I guess these never really caught on.

"Electric GAS". Sounds either hybrid or from Mason Williams.

Rik Emmett had a signature model Dean Flying V that matched his Allied Forces guitar. His had only *ONE* knob. Just volume. That's the way he wanted it.

Here's the Heritage 110.

Or you might also consider a PRS Mira S2.

Both are inspired by the Gibson Les Paul Special DC. I have the original Mira. It's fun, lightweight, and comfortable to play.

I had an original Mira as well. I won't say I'm kicking myself over letting it go, since the guitar I traded it for is one of my top 3 in terms of daily use, but I have to admit I look on Ebay pretty regularly for a seafoam one
