Hi Glenn!
I can hear some great old blues guy say, "Ohhhhh, Yeahhhhh" at the end of this! Great job on this ......and that high note at the end......impossible? Nope, you nailed it! Once again, I think we often fail to appreciate the work that goes into a 4 minute segment. It's obvious you put in a tremendous amount, not just the callouses part!! Thanks again, Glenn! Best, Fred

How nice of you to take the time to listen and comment! I appreciate your thoughts! Regarding the choice of chords, it took me a little while to work some of this out, but once I decided, okay, this is how I'm going to do this, the song started to take shape for me. And like you, I really like how they work together and how the various chord shapes sound. I could have done this on an acoustic guitar. The archtop has the same gauge strings on it as my acoustics (high E = 0.012"), but in the end I liked the sound of a jazz guitar approach. I'm sure not everyone here on the AGF would agree with that choice, but I think we have to do music the way we enjoy it best. Thanks again Sal. I hope all is well for you! - Glenn

Thanks so much for you thoughtful and encouraging comments! Regarding that high, falsetto G note at the end, I had to be pretty warmed up before I could hit that without my voice breaking! I put some work into this, but it wasn't bad, especially since I really have enjoyed figuring out this song and making something out of it with my voice and interpretation. I do appreciate the encouragement! I hope all is well for you Fred! Everything here is fine for us, looking forward to spring! - Glenn

Glenn,
Beautiful guitar playing along with a wonderful voice! That Eastman is certainly eye catching! May I ask the model? I enjoy your postings immensely, and look forward to many more. Take care, Bill |

Thanks for watching and for your kind comments! It's wonderful to know that you enjoy my occasional postings! The model of the Eastman is AR910CE The link here takes you to a maple finished version, but obviously mine is a sunburst. It is pretty and has flamed maple bindings which really make it look nice. Thanks again for listening Bill. I do hope I can continue putting up many more of these. I hope all is well for you. Take care! - Glenn

Hey Glenn,
Great job, one of my favorites, love the chord changes. Hope your fingers recover - but as you know "no pain no gain" :-) I think you should do "All of Me" next. I'm working on a lead break if you want to collaborate :-) John ps - nice 'background' effects too!

How wonderful to hear from you! Yes, the chord changes are very cool! Hoagy Carmichael clearly had a great musical imagination to come up with this sequence of chords, because to my ears they are quite unusual and yet fascinating once a person gets used to hearing it. In a thousand years I don't think I would have ever thought of starting out a verse going from G to B. It just makes the song. My fingers are doing fine now! Even though I had my nails cut quite short, the corner of one of my nails was digging into the side of my calluses on my ring finger, especially when I played the 9th chords. It hurt way more than it should have, but that problem is healing now that I have stopped the abuse! I will look at "All of Me"! What a great suggestion! I will send you a PM on this idea of collaboration! What a great idea! There will probably be a bunch more 9th chords! Be well John! - Glenn

Really nice arrangement -- shows off your high vocal range. As for "All of Me," it's got that same 1 chord to 3 major thing.

How nice to hear from you! Thanks for your thoughts and comments! I'm pleased that you thought this came out okay. I need to look into "All of Me." I remember hearing Frank Sinatra sing it back in the past, but other than that I don't have a feel for it. But I can hear in my head what you are referring to with the "1 chord to 3 major thing." I guess I need to start doing my homework on this new song! Be well Brent! - Glenn
