Default Koa Porn

Hoping the title of this thread doesn't get me in trouble...

I am having a custom all-koa guitar built by Preston Thompson, and the body just had a burst applied to it. I went back and forth on whether to go with the burst because I was worried about covering up the tremendous figuring of the koa. I just saw photos and a video of it and I am sure glad I went with the decision to do the burst.

A video of the body of the guitar can be found at https://www.instagram.com/thompsonguitars/ (click on the koa guitar back, which should be obvious if you see this in the next few days or weeks. It has a tremendous 3D effect going.

Still shots are below.

So stoked for this and wanted to share with other lovers of koa.

As the proud owner of two Koa Guitars, I think the burst is KILLER!! It adds so much to the look of it! Sorta like sprinkles on cookies!!! Can’t wait to see the finished product.

My first thought was "No, don't do it".

But that looks good. Let's the koa show and complements it.

What HE said!! I have two koa guitars, neither with bursts. But that is so well done that I would not mind it at all. It would be criminal to cover up that beautiful wood by overdoing the burst, but he didn't.

Love that KOA!

Good call on the 'burst too. It looks phenomenal.

I've never played a Preston Thompson, but hope to one day. I'm sure that guitar is going to be amazing!
