Default The Orville (tv show influenced by Star Trek)

Has anyone ever watched The Orville? The Orville is a space ship, much like the Enterprise, and the crew has similar experiences like the Next Generation.

Seth MacFarlane is the captain and also created the show. For those who don't know, he also created and voices Peter in The Family Guy.

There's some cheesy comedy involved but also some great story lines and special effects, especially in season 2. Epic space battles that is reminiscent of Star Wars (orchestra music playing).

The 3rd season is starting on Hulu in June (Fox cancelled the original run).

Any fans?

I'm a fan, Dru. Been waiting seems like forever for season 3. Glad to hear that it'll be dropping in June.

The Orville is brilliant. A tongue in cheek take on Star Trek which also addresses some serious issues. Very well written and funny. Bortus is the best character IMHO.

Absolutely love it - one of the best ensemble casts in a show for a long time. Was wondering how we'd get to see season 3 in the UK, so am glad I've got Disney+.

Yes they are. I'd also say this is less of a "tribute" and more of a "parody" of ST but some of the episodes are pretty funny.

I enjoy it. Even if it weren't for the parody aspect, I think it's a decent show.

Hey Aimelie, it's a great show as long as you don't mind the sometimes offbeat humour (which I don't and much of it is funny).

BTW, I watched it on Disney+. Not sure if the new season will be available on Disney+ or if it will be just Hulu (which isn't available in Canada).

I saw the first, maybe the 2nd series.
I don't know of any plans for screening any more in the UK.

Loved it. The blob voiced by Norm MacDonald (I think) especially when he was seen carrying a guitar to serenade the doctor.

I caught a few of the episodes and plan to stream them all when I finish Stargate Atlantis. The Orville seemed well done and I also enjoyed the humor. Discovery is another really good Star Trek spin and the newer one "Strange New Worlds" that features Captain Pike and Spock before he joins Kirk looks to be cool as well.

Hey Rich, yes, that was Norm Macdonald (RIP). He also has other ties to Seth M as Norm voiced the character Death on some Family Guy episodes.

When I read The Orville, I immediately thought of Gibson’s Japanese line of guitars The Orville by Gibson, like this Reverb listing for an Orville LG-2. They were made in Japan from left over USA parts.
