Default NGD: Collings 0002H - 2009

Today i got my 2009 Collings 0002H, had it setup and put some DR Sunbeam strings (lights)on the guitar. Sound is amazing and a joy to play. Traded this guitar for a Huss & Dalton DM, could not get used to the sound of the Huss. The Collings to my ears is warm and a whole different guitar.
Almost impossible to make a decent picture with it shinning so pretty

Yes it has rosewood back and sides and nice aged top. Never had a 12 fret before but is is very playable . Just tried it with a Charmed Life 0.9 plectrum but this Collings is loud!

Hi, the second Collings I bought after my DS2h (12 fret dread) in 1999 was a 0002h - 2003 model.

the 000 and the dread (like your ex-DM) is a very different guitar.
I bought my 000 in order to play Jimmie Rodgers songs, i.e. similar shape to his guitars.

I gig with my Collings dreads, but found that my 000 did not suit my rather heavy flat-picking style when performing, but still love it.

The 1 & 13/16" nut width is perfect for me and the scale is the same as my dreads ( 25.5") and with lighter strings (of course) and the very slightly narrower string spacing (2 & 5/16").
The Dreads are wonderfully responsive instruments but the 000 is ideal for fingerpicking (IMHO)

This might be of interest.

I traded it for mainly fingerstyle and the responce with the lightest touch is amazing.

As a guy who is anxiously awaiting the arrival of a new Collings D1t that is great to hear. One of these days I suppose I may whittle down to just one guitar, but not something I would want to do. But your comment speaks volumes as to your high opinion. The few I have had a chance to try out in the retail store have sounded really great. To the OP, enjoy your new beauty!

That’s a great guitar. The thing I love about Collings is the consistent dedication to build quality, playability and complete balanced tone. They are tough to beat. Congratulations and I hope you enjoy your guitar.

Congrats! I came within a frog's bottom of buying that Collings model when I was hunting for an 000 12-fret.
