As I as I'm concerned, a good headstock is one where I can walk into a club, take a seat at a middle table, and readily identify what sort of guitar the artist is playing. For my own use as a musician, I want a headstock that weighs next to nothing. Forget the extra scroll work and the bling, I just want light. Martin seems to do this best, at least on their less-blingy guitars.

I like a nice classic looking headstock that is somewhat understated but not necessarily plain. The classic Gibson headstock with the pearl logo and flower pot looks awesome as does the Martin headstock with Martin down the middle in big pearl letters. But lately I've been admiring the understated elegance of the headstock on my 000-17. Martin just nailed the vibe on this one.

There are some very ornate headstocks on premium guitars, but for the money, I think the Cole Clark headstocks are pretty darn gorgeous, such as the one on my Angel2 model.

This is my beloved MIJ Signature Takamine KC70 that has been my workhorse. It sounds lively and lovely unplugged as well as being an amplified one love reggae gigging machine! The headstock abalone inlays pretty much depict my life so I love it! Plus the shape is very practical in giving a straighter string pull. The rosewood headplate is deep tho the pic does it no justice. The Gotoh pewter tuners with amber pearl buttons are pretty cool too imo.

This one isn't mine but it's totally my favorite guitar aesthetic of all (and if I ever see one of these I'll probably buy it just for this)
Is that a special model Taylor, or a different builder with the same last name. Gorgeous either way. My favorite in this thread so far.

R Taylor is a boutique division of Taylor guitars, founded by Robert (Bob) Taylor. They use finer wood and employ their most experienced builders to make these guitars.

This is one of mine and a favorite. Tastefully done and not too blingy (my 2˘). Just right.

I love that Guild Headstock - There's just something about it. I have always love the aesthetic of Guild Guitars generally and if i could find a really great one, Id love to own a Guild, but in the end, it seems no matter what I set out to purchase, I end up with a Martin...
