Yes I’m excited and terrified at the same time. A lot is expected of me and I’m up for the challenge. Thank you!

Default Take a chance, or stay comfortable?

Ok so I made it official today. Gave the boss my two week notice and it was extremely liberating. This is something I’ve wanted to do for way too many years now.

Thanks guys, it’s a big risk, but I’d be regretting it if I didn’t give it a shot.

I just meant that employment tends to work out best when money a byproduct of the effort and not the main goal. While I think there are limits to the "do what you love and the money will follow" philosophy, I still think is represents a reasonable direction. People who work solely for the money tend to be the ones counting the days to retirement.

You are never wrong getting off the government payroll. At least you can live with yourself. Do it.

Very happy for you, 1neeto....I took a similar leap many years ago, and things do tend to work out!

I'm retired after 30 years of Public service...I started at the bottom and with hard work and constant, continual education, finished with a position in upper management...

I'm proud of my work and service and as my Dad used to say, "I earned every dollar that passed thru my hands..."

It certainly sounded to me like the OP worked hard for a living in the public sector, so I don't see the point of your derogatory comment...

I agree with your comment. I served 37 years, myself, and was proud of what I did.
