We do a ton through Reverb. Wrote this thread a little while back w/ some things to think about when buying.

We have mostly excellent experiences, but it is beginning to approach Ebay levels of dispassion with certain buyers... "Best price?" with no questions about the instrument, stuff like that. Generally, it is a very nice place to do business.

This is the same as the new-to-the-job-market quandary. How does a person gain experience if s/he needs experience to get a job in the first place? The answer is that somebody has to to take a chance and hire the person.

The same is true for the new seller, however, many of us (probably including me if it is a high dollar item) will wait for somebody else to take that chance.

I've bought and sold on Reverb with no issues, always happy with the transactions. This year I've purchased an acoustic guitar, electric guitar, amp and pedals. Last year it was a mandolin, a couple of cases, cymbals and drum hardware. I always look closely at the photos, check how much feedback they have, and also read the descriptions carefully. I think anytime a platform like that (craigslist/eBay/Reverb) starts to get more traffic it increases the chances of grifters getting involved. Of the three mentioned Reverb is my preferred option.

Other than my three Martins, I've only used Reverb. Guitars, pedals, accessories. It's a great site, but dangerous.
