Thank you ! Merry Christmas.

QUOTE=Glennwillow;6242949]Hi Mark,

Thanks for your response. I have copied the chords and lyrics below. I have to add spaces to keep the chord changes in the right places over the lyrics, so please forgive all the extra symbols. Let me know if this makes sense Mark.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (Glenn version, key of A)

Christmas future is far away
D/F# ---------------A----------B7-----E13

Christmas present is here today
E--------------B7---------Bm7------E9
Bringing joy that may last…

Amaj7----F#m7----Bm7--E7

I thought I might bump this 4-year-old thread to say Merry Christmas to everyone on the AGF for 2021! I hope you are all well, warm and dry.

So nice, Glenn. Simple - voice and guitar, but a lovely arrangement. Truly enjoyed it - thanks for sharing.

Happy Holidays!

Dave

Good job, as always, Glenn. One of my favorites!

I'd never heard that first verse ("Christmas future") before. Given that it's a different chord progression and melody than the rest, I guess this is what was called the "verse" in old-time songwriting, and the rest is the "chorus". For many old songs, we only hear the "chorus" these days.

Anyway, I enjoyed hearing your version.

Hi Dave!

Thank you for your kind comments! I'm so glad you appreciate this song.

I used to know the name for that old fashioned intro used on this song, but I can't seem to find it in my brain anymore. Maybe somebody else knows what it's called.

I stole that intro from one done by James Taylor. I could not find any transcription of how that should be played so I played along with JT and figured out what he was doing. Here is his video:

Happy Holidays Dave! Be well!
