Neck reset cost: Martin dovetail vs M/T
This is just curiosity on my part. Would a neck reset on a Martin M/T neck joint cost less than on a dovetail neck?

Theoretically, but with a highly skilled luthier, the difference is slight. Both joints are glued and must be steamed out. In both cases, the heel must be trimmed accurately to produce a proper neck angle and a tight fit to the body. The only material difference is fitting the shims of a dovetail, which typically takes me less than five minutes.
The main advantage of a glued M&T neck joint is in the building of the guitar. |

Remember, you're talking a different story with a non-glued on bolt on. Little less work to those.

Thanks, that clears it up. I was thinking that the (Martin) M/T neck was a bolt-on neck, didn't realize it was glued too.

The OP was about Martins, which are glued.

Yes but the statement I was responding to wasn't.....even if it was intended to be.
