Thanks for the many thoughtful observations in this thread.

I wanted to try working things out with the dealer before posting again. I also wanted to see the reported scratches with my own eyes and be able to post photos.

The guitar is back with me, and I am now a Charter Member. Will try posting Photos (both the dealer's and mine) in the next day or so, along with answers to questions a lot of you were asking.

I'll start a new thread, so it won't take 11 pages to find the photos and post!
So you ended up buying the Martin? I guess I'll wait for the new thread .

Hopefully, at some point you will view the purchase as something that actually worked out well in the end. I hope you fall in love with your new guitar!

Thanks for the follow up on this thread. It's been interesting to hear everyone's pov and I think many of us will remember the different views and perspectives here on our future transactions.

Thanks for the follow-up, Wild Fiddler.
I've been thinking about your experience since your first post, and the one I had a few years ago----mine had the same outcome (got to keep the guitar) but under different circumstances. Still hope it works out for you.

Actually he didn't end up buying the Martin, he started out buying the Martin and the dealer didn't accept the return.

I too hope you end up enjoying the guitar, since you ended up with it.

If the dealer continues to not take it back - he bought it.

Yes, that is what I was trying to say with limited coherency... He bought the Martin from the get go, he didn't 'end up' buying the Martin.

IDR, has it been positively proven by the dealer that the swirl marks/scratches/whatevers were not on the guitar previous to sending it to you to first time round?

OP here again.

I've just posted a new thread that answers a lot of questions people have been asking. It includes Photos: both mine, and the ones the dealer sent to justify his denial of the return.

See full details here: https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=536093

I don't know if the dealer might reconsider his decision. I do know all of us need to show a little good faith when it comes to trial periods and returns of these guitars we all love.
