Default Finally found a CF to add to my stable!

I have been contemplating adding a CF to the stable, but had not had many chances to actually play one, other than a Macpherson at Gruhn’s. I loved it but too pricey! My daughter just moved to Lansing, so while visiting her this week I had to go visit Elderly’s of course. They had a CA Vintage Performer dread on consignment that blew me away so its now mine! I can’t believe how much this sounds like an all wood guitar, very warm and punchy. Serendipity is a wonderful thing!

Congrats on a great find. The CA line of CF guitars was excellent. I've never owned or played one but every time I've encountered one out 'in the wild' at an open mic or gig/show it has sounded fantastic amplified. It still bugs me that the brand didn't last.

My first Rainsong came from Elderly while visiting family back in Michigan. That was 2001. Congrats!

Congrats on your new find Bill. CA (Composite Acoustics) were one of the first US-based innovators of carbon fiber guitars, who were acquired by Peavey in 2010. While making very niche instruments in an already even more niche market, the "Legacy" (see what I did there) of CA to sell off the brand was really a dirt nap for CA, albeit not one they probably wanted or were expecting.

My thoughts are that Peavey missed the boat on pushing and continuing the CA product line due to terrible management after Hartley retired, and focus on other lines of manufacturing. That is not to diminish Ellis Seal's contributions to both CA and McPherson and the incredible instruments that have resulted! I've not owned from either brand but have played samples from both. Outstanding guitars!

My first CF came from Elderly as well, a wee CA Cargo. It looked so like a toy guitar when first presented I nearly did not try it out; ended up taking it home.
