Default Boss RC-3 and Beat Buddy

Hi,

Haven't logged in for a while. Revamped my set-up (new one sigged, used for both acoustic and electric guitar), got back into acoustic guitar playing last winter and had a very nice gig in March and now looking forward to more.

I'm now using a Beat Buddy for certain songs, but I'm running into a bit of a problem when using it with the Boss RC-3. Best example: I'm fooling around with U2's With or without you, as I'm planning to give it a go with my singer this weekend. I've got the drum track down from BB's Premium Library, so I know it's good. I'm trying to record the basic bass line on guitar that will loop throughout the song, but I'm finding that after a few repeats, the BB drums and the RC's bass tempos don't match anymore.

So the problem is either me (quite possible) or the pedals.... anyone experienced this before ? Is the tempo function on the RC-3 the problem ?

The only way to run a loop pedal with the Beatbuddy is to have them midi sync’d
It would be almost impossible to match the tempos otherwise....as you have found.
I don’t think the RC3 has midi capabilities though.

The Beat Buddy's midi manual mentions 4 loopers: Boomerang III, TC Helicon VoiceLive, Ditto x4 and Boss RC-300, Pigtronix Infinity. So out will go the Boss RC-3 :-).

Now that would make so much sense. After the mini BB, the footswitch and the midi thing, a looper would be perfect ! I spotted a Ditto x4 in the locals, now if I can only sell the RC-3 fast enough. Too bad, 'cause it's really a darn good looper.

Ya the RC 3 is a great looper. It’s got all I need except midi.

Default Looper pedals

Been looking at Beat Buddy midi sync compatible loopers: Ditto x4, Boomerang, Pigtronix Infinity, Boss RC500.

The only one that seems to offer the ability to store loops in the pedal is the Boss RC500...

Have I got this right ?

I can confirm this is true about the Boomerang III. Deletes all loops when it is powered down.
