Default This mixer can run on batteries BUT...?

The Behringer XENYX 1002B 10 CHANNEL MIXER can be plugged in OR it can, instead, be run on 9v batteries. I like that option because I sometimes work outside with no power outlets.

It sells for under $100, & most Ebay sellers offer free shipping. Example is... ...
HERE

... ... for now (until they sell it, in which case, do a search... they have a lot of Behringer sellers on Ebay.)

QUESTION 1- does anyone have experience with this mixer? If so... is it pretty okay?

QUESTION 2- I alternate playing between an acoustic guitar & a baritone uke. Both use passive pickups. Will this mixer do the preamp job, or will I need a separate preamp?

My friend has one. It's great mains powered but makes an awful hissing noise when used with batteries. Beware!

I have the mixer-Love it runs silent
Batteries last along time
Best $100 you can spend for mobile work
Plenty of gain for your application

No comments about hissing in the Sweetwater reviews, but I read that it takes a 3rd 9v battery for providing phantom power - and the phantom is only 23v, not 48, so I suspect that might be your friends problem, having to crank up the gain on a condenser mic.

I just got one of these. Phantom power works fine with my Shure SM87B mics.

That would push me into ordering one if they add the effects option.
