Default Favorite Strings?

Lets have the one hundred thousandth discussion about strings.......lol.

So, what are your favorite strings?? I have tried the D'addario Extra hard tension and Hannahbach Goldins (which were my favorite) and I am about to try a set of La Bella Folk singers.

I've been doing a lot of experimenting with different strings over the past several months. Every time I read a favorable post on a set of strings I order up a set to give them a try.

So far my favorite strings are the GHS La Classique DD2300 Doyle Dykes Signature strings:

I play a folk/country style of music on my nylon stringed guitars and these strings are pretty much perfect for what I do. The wound G gives them a very nice, smooth tone.

My first choice strings are La Bella 850B-HT. These are extra hard tension strings with carbon black trebles and bronze-wound basses. Great sounding strings at a very reasonable price.

The "Folksinger" strings you mention are good too - similar materials but slightly less tension and with ball-ends. You don't often see them in the UK.

My favorite brand of strings is Aranjuez, Spanish silver with black trebles are bright sounding and super durable and apart from sounding really nice on my Esteve Flamenco guitar they also work great on my Lag 112 nce electro -acoustic.For a mellower tone I sometimes use Aranjuez concert silver.

Greetings, Rik

Aquila Perla — clear, warm, stays in tune quickly, and consistent. Love them.

Cool

I use La Bella 900-W Golden superior. They have a wound third string with golden trebles. Works great on my Alhambra.

I've tried a lot of strings, and keep going back to either "regular" ProArte's or Composites.....almost always normal tension.

Well, I will strike the La Bella folk singers off my list for now. I have only had them on the guitar for one day and two of the treble strings popped out of their plastic "ball end". Plus I really did not care for the lower tension.

I really did like the Hannahbach Goldins I tried put on a previous Taylor NS guitar I had but I have a hard time justifying the $30 for one pack of strings!

I'm not quite sure what you mean, "the treble strings popped out of their plastic "ball end"", but if you mean they came loose from the bridge, then you are depending on the wrong thing to secure your strings. Ball ends should never be depended upon to fasten strings to the guitar. Three turns on all bare nylons, with the last turn behind the block does the trick.

You're absolutely correct. Hannabach strings are perhaps 10% "better" than $6.00 sets. They're definitely not worth five times the price. and that's assuming you (or anybody) can hear the difference, which I doubt.
