Monk's Theme...
No, not Thelonius - Adrian!!
I never watched the show back in the day, but I've seen some reruns on Cozi TV lately and thought the instrumental theme was really cool. Looked it up - no wonder - one of my favorite guitarists - Grant Geissman. I've owned 4-5 of his CD's for many years!

This was a great theme song for the show! I distinctly remember loving this as the intro, and noticing immediately when "they" switched to the theme with lyrics.
Having the "new" theme written by Randy Newman helped immensely to soften the blow of losing the original! In these crazy times, I've come very close to working up a cover of the Randy Newman tune... kind of fits these days!

It really was good show, my wife got me into it at one point, and we watched it all the time.
The theme always got my attention. very cool.

I see I'm not the only one who thinks it's a great example of writing lyrics. Fits the show perfectly. I remember listening to a Randy Newman record in a high school English class 50+ years ago, so he's always stood out. Also amazed to find out he was the producer of one of the greatest pop songs ever - If You Could Read my Mind.
