Men's Levi's should not have stretch fabric in them.... no, no, no....

Nor embroidery, appliques, or bedazzles...

I'm pretty sure that's in the Old Guy Man Code Book...at least my copy...or maybe I just wrote it in the margins...

Yes I do. Those things would almost stand up by themselves. Stiff....

I changed into blue jeans every day after school when I was a kid, and wore them every Saturday and Sunday.

In college I wore them every day.

Now I change into blue jeans every single day after work, and wear them on Saturday and Sunday.

There are brands of jeans and very few jean manufactures. They are made to ordered specifications.

Big smiles here. I've been wearing some old made in USA 501s from when the general store at base of Teton Pass was one of the few places that still had them.

I washed my more recent uniform - Kuhl brand pants - and shook my head as to why I thought 501s were the answer except for maybe remembering some other jeans from the 1970s and 80s that were too tight.

The old stuff is valuable. I had a decades old Levi jacket I wore when I was in high school and later on a truck driver. To spare a nice modern Patagonia top I wore that old jacket out to meet friends for a pitcher and band playing. Two minutes away from my chair and it was gone. No one's done that with other expensive garments.

The Kuhl pants I like these days are expensive but I don't know what 501s cost. I'm not about to give up the cut, phone pocket and fabric performance of the what I like these days.

Add, the last time I looked for and bough jeans they all seemed to have extreme cuts such as low waist or most made for the modern American obesity epidemic.

I live not far from where most USA denim was made. Specifically, I’m a few blocks from the Swift Denim Mill.

Columbus was a Mill town. It ain’t anymore. The old mills are luxury condos or apartments, those that haven’t burnt down.

Think I’ll wear my old 501s today.

These nostalgic threads make me smile. Yesterday i was in a fitting room in a department store and an older gentleman and his wife were debating what size he really was! The husband was not going to win no matter how optimistic he was about being 33x30. Sometimes you have to accept that that extra inch will allow you to tuck your shirt in without revealing that you’re a “muffin top.”

Personally, I’m a fan of stretchy jeans.

You can still get them, proper “originals” made with what I believe is called “selvedge” denim. The kind you have to shrink to fit.

One teeny drawback: Nowadays they cost about the same as an off-the-peg 3-piece suit.

Yep ridiculous IMO, and now being retired the regular ones do last me longer.

I used to wear only Levi's, then when designer jeans became all the rage and we used to jump into them and zipper them with pliers (hey-it was the eighties) I switched over to other brands.

I remember when they came out with the 501 buttonfly. The problem was that the fabric shrunk and the geometry was not symmertical so after a few washings, the buttons twisted way off to the side - thus happened to everyone. They fixed that obviously but that was something they didn't expect at first.

Very recently I bought a pair of Levi's and was really impressed with them and will buy more again.

We had a Levis plant in my home town and there was an outlet store where you could get cheap jeans. I remember getting jeans that were cut wrong. After you washed them the legs shrunk in a spiral. The inseam would wind around over your knee!

I still wear jeans seven days a week. Twenty years ago I tried to change over to tan pants for work. The first pair lasted less than a week. I was working half-in and half-out of a studio rack. When I pulled out the pocket caught and they split from pocket to knee! Back to jeans.
