Patrice O'neal - the black comedian, has a funny bit about when he goes out like on Saturday night he ALWAYS will stop in conveniences stores periodically and buy a candy bar or some gum and get the time stamped receipts and look straight into the surveillance camera so in case he's stopped and they try to arrest him for a crime that was committed by someone who looked a LOT like him he can show his alibi receipts.

Probably a combination of saving a few cents and also not having people litter their receipts in the store or in front of it.

Being a victim of CC fraud I always ask for a receipt when using a card. I like having something to reconcile and make sure the purchases on our statement were actually made by us.
