Wow! Very cool. Joel has now gone to fully engineered sides, he was experimenting with different ideas a year ago, interesting to watch him continuing to evolve his builds, Cool bracing pattern.

He still is not decided..or at least not fixed to one thing only.. at least he said to stay more with cedar for the inner laminate as it apparently is easier to work with.
I am fascinated at what those artists can do with wood.. and then to combine the meticulous craftsmenship with the process of putting together a system out of so many different parts purposefully to something that not only looks great but also sounds alike... adoreable!

it still is great fun!
Very thankful to have made those connections, the opportunity to get a slot with Joel via Marcus, the interaction with Joel and Marcus on the build and looking forward to the possibility of actually meeting the lads in Berlin in May.
It wasn‘t planned... but the Holy Grail happens May 2nd & 3rd, and if everything works out I will get this guitar for my birthday on the 3rd... how cool would that be ?

Hi everyone, high time for a little update.
Joel is moving along on this build and my anticipation is rising- which doesn't really help to keep the impatience at bay... but that is part of the fun I guess.
Here some pics on the neck progress:

These were the choices for neckwood... both hog..

I thought the figure and colour of this one make for a very good combination with the top, back & sides, so this one it is

Joel uses a carbon ‚halfpipe‘ to stiffen the neck and installed the trussrod

Here the headplate glued on

.. more to come.
Thanks for checking in!

Beautiful neck wood! I'm quite impressed with all of Joel's work, but his neck construction in particular seems especially impressive.

... it‘s hard not to be impressed, I can‘t judge really, as there are so many and different approaches out there, and constant development.. but it sure is impressive to see luthiers combine superb craftmanship with artistry and physics and the application of theories to create wonderful looking and sounding works of art.

Default Wow!

Looks beautiful, Lonzo!

Really love the simple, elegant nature of this guitar (though I know it's by no means simple to execute!).

Ready for finish soon--now your patience gets put to the test!

Thanks Nemoman for the kind remark.
Exactly what we wanted to achieve, elegant, subtle accents, let the ‚gestalt‘ and the woods shine and ring.
I am very happy with how it comes out.
.. as for the test of patience... I will fail miserably I‘m afraid 🙈

Thanks for commenting!

Truly a stunning build. I hope that Holy Grail Berlin will still be going on so that Joel and I can deliver this beauty in person to you!
